World football governing body Fifa has accused Uefa of orchestrating a misinformation campaign. The charges emerged in recent US court documents regarding the upcoming presidential election.

Last month, European football authorities filed legal papers in the United States. They requested evidence and documents from Fifa while warning of a potential criminal complaint in Switzerland.

Uefa targeted Fifa president Gianni Infantino directly. The European body alleged criminal mismanagement and accused him of promoting a fraudulently off-market price for the now-shelved Fifa Forward Enterprise scheme.

Fifa was founded in Paris on May 21, 1904, long before the modern continental confederations existed. The Post-War Rise of Uefa

Uefa emerged later, officially established on June 15, 1954, in Basel, Switzerland, following sustained discussions among European football administrators. Driven by Italian sports executive Ottorino Barassi, French administrator Henri Delaunay, and Belgian leader Ebbe Schwartz, the new continental body aimed to unite European national associations under one specific regional umbrella.

By 1959, Uefa moved its administrative headquarters to Paris before relocating permanently to Bern in 1960 and later establishing its current permanent home in Nyon, Switzerland, in 1995. These distinct geographical and administrative origins established a permanent structural separation between the global body and its most powerful continental confederation.
