Born Mohammed Ismail Sherif, the award-winning Ghanaian artist known as Black Sherif spent his early childhood years in the mining town of Konongo Zongo in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Before dedicating himself entirely to music, he studied at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he pursued a degree in marketing while simultaneously recording his earliest breakout tracks in local studios.
The Breakout Phenomenon of 2021
His massive commercial breakthrough arrived in 2021 with the release of ’First Sermon’ and ’Second Sermon’, two gritty street anthems that combined highlife melodies with hardcore rap delivery and instantly captured the attention of the West African music scene.
He officially cemented his international crossover status on March 31, 2022, when he released the global remix of ’Second Sermon’ featuring Nigerian superstar Burna Boy.
